PROJECT PROTEUS CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES

Muskwa's most ambitious engineering project, Project Proteus, continued to make headway this month. The project, which seeks to build a squadron of unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) to help with marine research and conservation, moved forward with the construction of the prototype RSU-4 aircraft, the DON EICHHORN. The aircraft's instrumentation deck and upper fuselage fairing, constructed out of balsa and basswood, were completed, and the aircraft's inverted v-shaped tail nears completion. The tail, built out of balsa ribs laser-cut by Muskwa's Northwestern Chapter, is being covered with colored MonoKote film to give the aircraft its final midnight-blue color.
